A San Francisco-area technology startup that was acquired by Rackspace Hosting Inc. in 2012 has spun out of the company in a deal worth $50 million, Mailgun Technologies Inc. announced today.
Mailgun built a series of application program interfaces, or APIs, that enable emails to be sent on-demand using proper internet protocols in an effort to escape death by spam folder capture. It’s a tool used by software developers to automate large volumes of emails to customers using cloud servers.
